Hallo Salamander,
bis jetzt ging ich leider davon aus, dass es keinen Ortsnamen gibt, der
an den nordisch/germanischen Gott Delling erinnert (und seine Existenz
beweist). Jetzt gibt es doch einen Fund: Dalbury Lees in England.
Die englischsprachige Wikipedia schreibt:
In late Victorian times the name was said to have developed from the Old
Norse deity name Dellingr, Dalbury is mentioned twice in the Domesday Book
where it is spelt Delbebi and Dellingeberie.[1]
Interessant ist, dass die Kirche im Ort (aus dem frühen 12. Jahrhundert)
heute noch mit Licht und Sonne (bzw. Sonnenaufgang) in Verbindung gebracht
wird:
The church has the distinction of possessing what is likely the oldest
complete stained glass window in an English parish church. The Romanesque
figure of an Archangel is believed to date from the early 12th century and
clearly originally designed for a small Norman window opening (likely lost
during later alterations) and is now reset in plain glazing in one of the
south windows of the nave.[2]
Delling ist also nicht ganz vergessen (und erfunden habe ich ihn auch
nicht).
